Rockstar has released two official GTA 6 trailers so far: Trailer 1 on December 5, 2023, and Trailer 2 on May 6, 2025. A third trailer has not been released as of July 14, 2026, though outlets expect one in the coming weeks.
Trailer 1 — December 5, 2023 (the reveal)
Rockstar had scheduled Trailer 1 for a YouTube premiere at 9:00 AM EST on December 5, 2023. A leaked, lower-quality copy spread online less than 16 hours early, so Rockstar pushed the official version out around 6:00 PM EST on December 4, 2023 to get ahead of the leak.
What it revealed:
- The game's title, Grand Theft Auto VI
- The two protagonists, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, and their Bonnie-and-Clyde dynamic
- The setting: a modern-day return to Vice City and the state of Leonida
- An original release window of 2025 (later delayed twice, ultimately landing on November 19, 2026)
- Tom Petty's "Love Is a Long Road" as the trailer's needle-drop, which then saw a reported 37,000% jump in Spotify streams
Impact: it broke multiple Guinness World Records for most-viewed video game reveal trailer, hitting roughly 46 million views on its first day and over 93 million within 24 hours.
Trailer 2 — May 6, 2025 (gameplay and cast)
Released around 9:30 PM EST on May 6, 2025, over a year after the delay to the release date was first announced.
What it revealed:
- Rockstar confirmed the footage was "composed of cutscenes and gameplay recorded on the PlayStation 5" — the first look framed explicitly as in-engine/gameplay rather than a pure cinematic
- Extended looks at Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, and other regions of the state
- More of Jason and Lucia's story and supporting cast
- A soundtrack pass including The Pointer Sisters, Wang Chung, Zenglen, and Tammy Wynette
Impact: over 475 million views across platforms within 24 hours, with the YouTube upload alone reaching roughly 84 million views in the same period — making it, by most measures, the biggest game trailer debut ever at the time.
Trailer 3 — not yet released (as of July 14, 2026)
As of this writing, Rockstar has not released or scheduled a third trailer. Gaming outlets have speculated about a late-July to mid-August 2026 window, reasoning from:
- The roughly 17-month gap between Trailer 1 and Trailer 2
- Rockstar's cover art reveal for GTA 6 on June 18, 2026, seen as the start of a renewed marketing push
- Take-Two's earnings-call cadence and other major gaming/media events that Rockstar has used for past reveals
None of this is confirmed — treat any specific "Trailer 3 release date" you see elsewhere as a rumor until Rockstar posts it on the Rockstar Newswire or its official YouTube channel.
Quick reference
| Trailer | Date | Key reveal |
|---|---|---|
| Trailer 1 | December 4–5, 2023 | Title, Jason & Lucia, Vice City/Leonida setting, original 2025 window |
| Trailer 2 | May 6, 2025 | PS5 gameplay/cutscene footage, more regions, cast and soundtrack |
| Trailer 3 | Not yet released | Unknown — speculated for late July–August 2026 |
Bottom line
Two trailers exist officially: December 2023 for the reveal and May 2025 for the first gameplay look. A third trailer is widely expected before the November 19, 2026 launch but has no confirmed date yet.
